I thought this class was very interesting and educational. I also appriciate that Dr. Myers was so invested in helping me get back on track after I fell behind. He worked with me and obviously cares about his students. I am grateful for having taken this course.
Intro to Economic Analysis might sound like a dry class. While truthfully, there are some boring concepts (just like any class or topic), economics as a whole is filled with important, interesting information. Knowing this information allows you, as a student, a citizen of a country, and a person living on this round spinning rock of ours, to better understand this invisible force of economics that permeates the world. By taking this class, you are both expanding your mind as well as becoming a person better able to think critically of your world, without having to rely on others to tell you what to think. I highly recommend this course.
This course is quite informative especially for engineers to understanding the economic side of things. You will learn many different economic policies and ideas that you may or may not have heard of before. The modules are heavily reading based so it is crutial you read through the powerpoints and watch the information videos discussing different ideas.
This was a well organized course that had so so so so so much information. If you do not have 5 hours a week do not take this course. If you want to learn a lot about the subject do not take this course without having 5 hours a week to dedicate to it.
The material and support is there, you just need to have the time to utilize the learning opportunities present.
I loved this course overall. I found it an extremely effecient way to learn a lot of important information without being overwhelmed. The modules were set up to be completed in a reasonable amount of time, and were often times very interesting. Great class, great professor.
This course was incredibly helpful! The organization and preparation efforts made by the professor are excellent. I have stated this earlier in the evaluation but will repeat it - I took an economics course in high school, and it was challenging for me so it made me not like economics too much. Turns out, it had to be the class set up and teacher because this course made me interested in economics and more! It does take time to complete the course and it shouldn't be underestimated. The professor is enthusiastic and responds promptly to emails and cares about the students' learning. Overall, it was very useful for everyday knowledge and I would highly recommend any student to take this course.
If you do well with independent learning and can understand topics through reading and videos, this course is for you. Dr. Myers gives you all the resources you need to succeed and if something is unclear, it is very easy to reach out to him and he will answer any questions. The quizzes are fair and if you do the reading and take good notes, they shouldn't be any problem. Multiple attempts on each quiz really helps and it helps you realize if you are not really sure about a particular topic. All in all, this class was a positive experience and I would recommend taking this online course.
This course was very enjoyable and provided an enviroment for learning. I liked that you could work ahead and could take the course at your own pace. I wold reccomend this course even in the summer and online to many students. I think this course has a lot to offer and the concepts learned are important for all college students to know regardless of their major. Each module was different and material was presented in an interesting an in unique ways.
This is an interesting class and you will enjoy taking the class becouse of the information that is related to the economic world around you.
For the summer class: somewhat fast paced and very informative course. Students need to make sure they stay ahead of the modules and not get behind. The modules do a good job of laying out what information is needed to do well on the quizzes. Make sure to do the readings and spend time studying before taking the quizzes. After a quiz attempt, do not immediately start the next attempt, go back and review what you may have missed and are unclear about. Do these things and students will do fine.
If you're looking to gain a better understanding of economics without putting much time or effort into it, take the online course. Saves much needed time and effort. Reading the book is not necessary.
Economics is a very interesting course for either technical or social skilled students. It helps you understand how US and word economy works and how to even balance your money. It should and is a requried course for any degree in this school.
This course turned out to be a great online class. Interesting topics and you can work at your own pace. Dr. Meyers is generally quick to respond to questions or concerns and he seems to care whether or not you do well in the class.
Very good course to take online. You must take charge of your own learning, there is no one to say you must complete each quiz.
This course offers a very broad yet detailed analysis on the various types of economics and the concepts that fall under it. It starts at the very basic level with supply and demand and the fallacies that fall under basic economics and gradually gets more in depth. By the end you are learning about governments role in economics and how that can effect the economy by the various rules and concepts that they utilize to manipulate the market.
Overall this course was an extremely fun and intriguing class. A lot of the concepts were fun to learn about and apply to real world situations. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out these concepts, but it was worth it. If I could I would take it again, but with hopefully an even better understanding of the course.
This course would be a good marker for telling if you are interested in economics as more than just a class. It outlines several learning objectives and pretty much follows them to the t. I know several other students have mentioned how much work this class is and I would say that don't ignore them, but also don't take it to heart. This class requires about as much time as any other class. I saw some people saying it takes longer and others said they only spent about an hour a week and both of those are not true for most students. You do however need to stay on track or if you get behind at least have a plan to get caught up. As someone who did get behind in the beginning it's not fun at all.
The class was difficult due to time restraints, but that was the hardest part. The material is fairly easy to understand as long as the proper amount of time and effort is put in. The pace was a little fast, but this is expected in a summer course. Overall, I would reccomend taking this course over the summer and in general due to not being overly complicated, as far as material goes at least.
This course is able to be completed without previous knowledge of economics although it will require more work. I put work in and fortunately came out with a good grade. If you put the time and effort into it, you will succeed.
it is the best online course ever, everything was ready for us and it was well orgonaized
Introduction to Economic analysis is a very intersting course. When I first entered the course I didnt have much interest in this area of study as I was more intersted in Engineering. Although as I began to read through I learned so much more about the economy and how most things work. I beleive that this course is useful to anybody regardless of what your study is. I believe in the long-run, this course will give me a leg up on issues I can tackle in the economy.
It was good experience, and he was great professor.
This class gives you the fundamental concpets on what drives our free market society. This course wil cover a wide varity of topics such as supply and demand, minminum wage, policy making, aggratvated supply/demand, and many more. These topics will all play a role in the economy, and you may have experienced them without even knowing it in your day to day life. This class will give you the tools to allow you to make connections in the real world and in your day to day interactions with the free markets
Overall, this class was interesting and has helped me broaden my scope of learning at the University of Akron. I feel as though i am a more well rounded student and can enter the world more informed, having a basic understanding of economics. This class took a lot of work and a lot of time, which took a lot of my time away from my engineering classes. Overall, it was a good experience.
Go into the course with an open mind. Whatever your political leanings, this course will probably have something to say against your assumptions. It did for me. At the same time, be skeptical with what you read, it's a good habit to get into. To succeed in this course, you need to understand what you're reading, not just memorize it.
I think the course if very complete and the way it is presented is great, you can work at your own pace and have enough time to complete all the modules. It is very mportant to read the book.
This course was effective at presenting numerous economic concepts in a very well-paced manner for being an online course. I definitely felt as though I learned a lot and I appreciated the chance to retake a quiz after reviewing a topic I did not quite understand the first time around. The book, lecture notes, and powerpoints were sufficient offerings to learn the material and the quiz questions were very fair and related to the course objectives.
This was a valuable course for just understanding how the economy works. Whether or not you realize it the economy affects you all the time. Having a basic understanding of it is valuable and useful. The reading for this course was easy to understand. Overall this course was managable and worth the effort.
This course was a fair online course. Follow the due dates that are laid out in the syllabus and do not fall behind and it is fairly easy to do well on the quizzes. The book also helps to understand the material for the quizzes. As long as you read and understand the material, it is a fair class and should not be hard to do well in.
This class will help you understand a lot of things that happen in our every day life that no body has bothered to explain to you before. However, be careful that this course is not an 'easy' course to sign up for and expect an A. You need to put in a lot of work.
This is a great class that has taught me a lot about the principles of economics. As long as you stay on track and complete all of the assignments on time, there is nothing to worry about. Dr. Myers was a great instructor that helped out whenever there was a question. Overall, this class was a great learning experience.
This course is a great online course to take and a great alternative to take in person. In this course you will find that the quizzes are challenging but doable. Reviewing the powerpoints was the most effective method to taking in all the the material. It is important to complete the modules according to the class schedule to remain on track. It is very easy to fall behind. Overall I would recommend this course to others.
In general, i found my experience with this course to be quite good. Professor Myers is very knowledable about the material and is always willing to help students whenever they ask for. However, because the course is 8 weeks and online, it is important to manage your time well to avoid falling behind in the course and to master your study skills in order to succeed.
I am not at all interested in economics, so if you are looking for something that you are able to get out of the way quickly and conveniently this is the perfect class. I appreciated the fact that I was able to work at my own pace and work on the lessons whenever I had the time between work and my other classes. I didn't have to spend too long on studying for this course and I liked that I was assessed as I went along and that I didn't have to worry and stress over taking a final.
This is a very organized online course. It was easy to follow and find everything and expectations were known from the beginning. It is a "teach yourself" couse which is really hard (especially for a economics course) so I would only suggest this to a person who is good at time-management and self-motivating to complete the work.
